Premature graying is quickly becoming a big problem even for younger people. Gray or white hair is common as we age, but people aged 20-30 are becoming more and more affected by the problem in recent years. Gray hair is often caused by a combination of factors such as stress, poor nutrition, hormonal imbalance, thyroid disorders, chronic colds and genetics.
Our hair gets its color from a pigment called melanin. However, the aforementioned factors or the aging process may lead to reduced melanin production and loss of color, which results in white or gray hair. Although many people are at a loss of how to treat the problem, gray hair can be resolved naturally. These are the best natural remedies against white or gray hair:
- Curry leaves
When mixed with coconut oil, curry leaves become a powerful gray hair remedy. Pour a tablespoon of coconut oil in a pan, then add a couple of fresh curry leaves and boil the mixture until they’re burnt. Afterwards, leave the mixture to cool down before applying it on your hair. Leave the remedy to work 30-45 minutes, then rinse with water and repeat the process twice a week for best results. Drinking curry juice every day is an effective preventive measure against gray hair.
- Indian gooseberry
Indian gooseberry, also known as Amla, is a great natural remedy against different hair problems including gray hair. This powerful powder has anti-aging properties thanks to the presence of many antioxidants and can be either consumed or applied on your hair. To use it, boil a few dry Amla leaves in coconut oil, then leave the mixture to cool down before applying it on your hair. Repeat the process twice a week and you will never see a gray hair on your head again!
- Lemon juice and coconut oil
Coconut oil will hydrate your skin and stimulate growth, while also fighting different scalp infections which may be hindering the growth of your hair. Repeat the process once a week for best results.
Henna will strengthen the roots of your hair and darken your hair strands, which makes it a great remedy for gray hair. Make a mixture of ground henna leaves, some coffee grounds, 3 tablespoons of Amla powder and some yogurt, then use the paste on your hair and leave it until it dries. Rinse with warm water in the end and repeat the process 1-2 times a month for best results. Henna powder can also be used in combination with hot coffee or coconut oil as a natural hair dye that can cover your gray hair.
