Summer is a synonym of freedom, enjoyment and happy relaxing moments, but sadly, also countless “meetings” with all sorts of bugs and pesky mosquitoes. Don’t worry! There are various and pretty simple ways to get rid of all the insects, especially mosquitoes. We selected the most effective and easiest ways to have a carefree summer.
Make yourself a trap for mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are major pests that do not leave us alone. So if you want to rest peacefully on the balcony or in the garden, we suggest you make this trap and enjoy the moments out. It is important to know a few things about the mosquitoes. They like dark places and are helplessly attracted by the mixture whose recipe is provided below.
To make a trap for mosquitoes you need:
1.5l or 2l plastic bottle
200 ml of hot water
50g brown sugar
1 g yeast
tape or other similar glue
Cut the top of the bottle (about a third of the bottle) and then pour the water and sugar in it.
Stir the sugar to melt and add the yeast and stir again.
Stick the cut out peace back in the bottle with the top turned downwards but make sure the tip doesn’t touch the bottom of the bottle because otherwise the mosquitoes wouldn’t be able to “fall” into the trap. Then glue the cut out piece on the surface where it meets the edges.
Wrap the bottle trap with newspapers without leaving an empty spot and place it in some dark corner of the room.
Aromatic and effective against mosquitoes
There is a very simple and effective solution against mosquitoes that everybody can do it. We have another solution against mosquitoes. And as a plus side you will have a pleasant room air freshеner without chemicals. All you need are lime and cloves.
Cut the lime in half and place it in a bowl. Put a few grains of cloves on the lime and voila, your anti mosquito scent is ready and put into effect. Put in front of you on the table, open windows in the room, you would be guaranteed a quiet night and scented dreams.
Natural sprays against mosquitoes and insects

With mint essential oil and lemongrass oil treat the area around windows, doors, and in the kitchen in order to prevent the occurrence of infestation of ants.
Cinnamon oil and oil of turmeric are used as prevention against aggressive black flies by spraying or applying on clothes or exposed parts of the body.
Once you get a mosquito bite you must take measures because we all know how uncomfortable and annoying the constant itching can be. In that case you should use one of the following natural home remedies that will help to ease the pain and itching.
Ice cubes reduce swelling
The use of ice cubes or a bag of frozen vegetables can be surprisingly good remedy against mosquito bites. The ice will reduce the swelling and thus reduces the irritation of the bite. Wrap ice cubes in a towel and gently press on the sore spot for about 10 minutes (or as long as you can stand the cold).
Apple acid will reduce the itching of the skin from mosquito bite
Apple acid can help to balance the pH of the skin, and it can reduce pain and itching. Put a cotton bud soaked in apple vinegar and apply it to the sore spot. In case of a greater number of bites you can put small amount of the apple vinegar in the shower gel.
Use the tea bags
The natural ingredients of tea – tannins draw toxins from the skin and help relieve the unpleasant feeling from mosquito bites. Take a used tea bag from and press it on the sore spot and hold until the itch is reduced.
The oil soothes the skin
Antiseptic feature of tea tree oil helps in treating many skin symptoms, including unpleasant mosquito bites. If you have tea tree oil on a cotton swab, apply a small amount and rub the sore spot. The essential oils of mint and lavender also have a good effect. However be careful if you’re sensitive to essential oils and if necessary try to mix them with water prior to direct application on the skin.
Make a paste from baking soda
Mix baking soda and water to make a paste, then apply to the sore spot. Leave on for a few minutes until the paste is dried and then rinse the skin with lukewarm water. It will reduce itching and relieve the pain.
Another winning combination against mosquito bites, which is always welcome is prepared from the following ingredients: 15 drops of essential lavender oil, 3-4 tablespoons vanilla extract and 4-5 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Stir the mixture and place it in a bottle with a nozzle and the rest with water and apply on the sore spot.
The natural, chemicals free, homemade remedies are very simple and easy to make and serve multiple purposes – repel mosquitoes, serve as air fresheners and soothe the skin after bites.
